Guidelines for Effective Chanting

  • Sit facing East or North in a clean, quiet space
  • Use a Rudraksha or Tulsi mala for counting (108 beads)
  • Maintain regularity — same time and place daily
  • Start with correct pronunciation — learn from a qualified teacher
  • Chant with attention and devotion, not mechanically
  • Keep a sankalpa (intention) before beginning
  • Don't break a mantra cycle (anushthana) once started
  • After japa, sit in silence for a few minutes to absorb the vibrations
